ADVANCE SEWING COURSE (6 classes of 4 hours each)
Do you want to enter a more advanced world of sewing? This is the next step to take after completing the first three sewing courses. In this course you will create proper tailored trousers, with a complimentary coat / jacket. Most of the theory regarding sewing was taken care of in the previous courses, but the sewing techniques are more intense than in the beginner and intermediate courses. Being able to sew at a more advanced level is empowering and satisfying. You will learn vital sewing techniques and gain in-depth knowledge on how to produce your own professional tailored clothing.
REQUIREMENTS:
- We recommend that you complete both the beginner and intermediate courses (course 1, 2 & 3) or alternatively consist a fair understanding of sewing before enrolling for the Advance sewing course
- It is however of utmost importance for attendees to have a sewing machine at his / her disposal, not only to practice at home but for homework purposes. (Brother sewing machines can be bought from Heartbeat Sewing directly).
In the Advance sewing course, you will learn the following:
- Theory
- What is lining and interlining; how to use lining and interlining; adapting, and reading commercial patterns; learn the techniques of how to construct a tailored suit; acquiring the skills to construct trouser pockets; fly zip; waistband construction; tailored two piece sleeves; a notched collar; lining a tailored jacket and how to stitch a welt pocket.

- Trousers/shorts with a fly zip and waistband.
- Tailored jacket/coat with lining.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE COURSE FEE?
- Fabric and a piece of interfacing for the sewing samples.
- Theory manual & A4 Document wallet for storage.
- The use of our Sewing Machines.
- The use of our trouser and jacket / coat patterns.
- 6m Polytrace (for tracing your patterns).
- Packet of Jean & Universal machine needles; and a marking pen with 10 refills. (yours to keep)
WHAT IS EXCLUDED FROM THE COURSE FEE?
- FABRIC and notions for the trousers and jacket/coat.
- Any extra sewing tools required for adequate garment construction.
